Your role as a Senior Engineer (Payroll)

We're looking for a strong senior engineer who's focused on building testable, performant, and maintainable backend services with Go. You have a passion for software craftsmanship and well-considered opinions about how software should work, and you hold yourself and your code to a high standard.

In this role:

• You will work with a well-organised codebase
• You will contribute to a SaaS product loved by thousands of small businesses in Denmark
• You will help set the technical direction for how we design, develop, and build our payroll product
• You will write high-quality, testable, and maintainable code
• You will collaborate closely with a strong, supportive engineering team — a small team of 4 people including yourself

About you

It is important that you have a strong technical background and an excellent understanding of how a SaaS solution is architected and how its fundamental components work.

We expect you to:

• Be a strong Backend Engineer with experience in the Go programming language
• Love coding and excel at creating great engineering solutions
• Have 5–10 years of experience as an engineer
• Be comfortable working with databases, APIs, web & mobile clients — and enjoy digging into complex technical challenges
• Be willing to learn the payroll domain, even when it requires understanding complicated rules around salary slips
• Be fluent in English and Danish, since this is a Danish payroll system
• (Nice to have) Experience with AWS, mainly ECS
