👀 The Frontend Ops team at Shine
You’ll join a small but pivotal Frontend Ops team (Head of Frontend, Web Engineer, and you) dedicated to building the foundations that let product teams move faster and more consistently. You’ll pair strategic thinking with hands-on React Native engineering, shape the mobile architecture vision, and partner closely with design to create a shared design system that truly bridges Figma and code.
📋 Your role as a Senior Mobile Engineer (Frontend Ops)
As Senior Mobile Engineer at Shine, you’ll be the hands, the craft, and the steady voice driving mobile excellence across our rapidly evolving SaaS universe. With six customer-facing applications—three web, three mobile—each with its own quirks, build systems, and styling approaches, we’re unifying how we deliver great product experiences across platforms.
This is a unique opportunity to define how mobile is built at Shine, improve developer experience, streamline QA and production releases, and make it simple for product squads to ship high-quality features across both iOS and Android.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Strategy & Architecture
- Co-define Shine’s mobile architecture vision with the Head of Frontend and Web Engineer, ensuring it meshes with the broader frontend consolidation effort
- Contribute to the design system strategy—design tokens, component APIs, and shared UI patterns that span mobile and web
- Advocate good practices, tooling, and workflows that make mobile development approachable for all engineers
- Technical Ownership
- Lead hands-on development in React Native + Expo, ensuring a robust, maintainable codebase
- Shape and maintain CI/CD pipelines and release automation (EAS, GitHub Actions, Firebase, App Store Connect, Play Console)
- Ensure QA and production build and release processes are smooth, well-documented, and easy for stream-aligned teams to use
- Act as the go-to expert for signing, submissions, and store compliance, unblocking teams when issues arise
- Ensure testing strategies (Jest, Detox, Maestro) are well integrated into the mobile workflow
- Collaboration & Enablement
- Work in lockstep with the design team to align Figma tokens and components with live code, creating a tight feedback loop
- Support and mentor engineers in stream-aligned teams, helping them confidently deliver mobile features on top of shared foundations
- Document architecture, decision records, and developer-friendly guides that enable contribution without gatekeeping
